Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}29.6.38. 29.G.VI. Will you please remove No.1 Unit out of the above car and carry out the following after which it is to be fitted to 20.G.VI. which is later to be allotted for transport work. Complete dismantle and inspection, assembly to consist of:- (1) Crankshaft modified in accordance with drilling of latest lubrication holes. Std. Wraith balance weights to be fitted. (2) Std. flywheel and clutch to be fitted. (3) New standard main bearings if necessary. (4) Standard connecting rods with standard thin section die cast AC.9 bearings. (5) Std. train of timing gears including new material camwheel. (6) Std. camshaft but with .225 machined off front face of cams. Bottom tappets to have a flat face, not conical, retaining the existing vertical bored guides. (7) Spring driven Delco distributor (std.) (8) Small valve cylinder head (now std.) as per our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}19/JH.27.6.38. (9) Retain existing loose liner cylinder block which has 3 Sheepsbridge liners and ) Phosphor chrome liners (R.R. produced). (10) Tin plated T slot pistons, which with rings will be supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} (11) High oil level indicator (std.) also anti-surge trap door in front compartment of sump to be fitted, (this now std.) (12) Std. rocker shaft, rockers and push rods to be fitted. When assembled the unit to be tested on the bed and the gears quietened, before fitting into 20.G.VI. | ||
