Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}9/MH.{M. Huckerby} 1180 28th. September 1937. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., Chapel-en-le-Frith. For the attention of Mr. Longley. Dear Sirs, We should like to know if you can supply R.U. brake lining 3/8" thick: our present samples are only 1/4" thick. We should like two pieces of GB.751, in R.U. quality, 1" thick, exact radius not important as it is to be cut up to 3" lengths; and we will issue a covering order for same. The material S.7356 has given no better results on a car than M.L.3, and the material S.7357 squeaked badly on a rig although it might be better than MR. on a car. However, we have insufficient material to make the test, which in any case does not appear worth while. The R.U. has been satisfactory so far, but the wear resistance is not good, as was expected. Material 3/8" thick would be essential. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
