RE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT ON 40/50 CARS AT CHATEAUROUX.

x9960
x9560

Would you kindly note the following extracts from a report of my assistant, (dated June 20th), who is with these cars.

Extract No.1 with ref. to 98-NK.

"During the same intervals between runs,
"it was found that the wiring under the front mud-
"guards to the side lamps was badly damaged, appar-
"ently owing to rubber cords thrown off from Rapson
"tyres. The near side (L.H.) wire was hanging dis-
"connected from the lamp. Practically no night
"running had been done. Both cables were temporarily
"re-attached to the mud-guard, but facilities are not
"at hand for repairing the broken connection.

"Early in the present tests (after about 600
"miles), the front of the off side (R.H.) side lamp
"fell off during a brake jagger. It was then found
"that it would not twist right home in position on the
"lamp, and was not properly attached before probably."

Extract No.2. with ref. to 98-NK and 35-FK.

"The type of Klaxon button fitted to both
"cars has been found unsatisfactory, both having had
"to be taken apart and cleaned two or three times,
"owing to burning of the contacts."
