RE. 8.HP. ROVER - LC.82886. Y3531

The crankshaft of the above car broke on Tuesday last the 8th inst, whilst in Derby visiting the Works. It is now in the Experimental department.

I have stripped the engine and find that apparently both connecting rods are damaged, and also the crankcase. I feel that this is hardly a running repair, and the Experimental Department are awaiting instructions as to what shall be done.

The engine is in a condition ready to be sent to the Rover works, and I feel that the Company should attempt to make the Rover people somewhat responsible for what is either faulty design or faulty manufacture.

The car since I have had it has never been driven more than 25 m.p.h. This has been necessitated by the fact that both cylinder heads were cracked when the car was handed over to me, and I only reached Chichester with difficulty.

I would be glad to hear from you as to what should be done.
