re. BRAKE PROTECTION. 49940

See Mr. Hives' memo. of 23/2/24.
Will DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} RG.{Mr Rowledge} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} do all possible to provide protection from water, mud, and oil.

Can some of the bearing ends be made blind?

Greasers and water protection sleeves and collars should be as thoroughly carried out as the best of other makes, and superior where practically possible.

Kindly see how we stand compared with others.

Can we use self lubricating bearings, and non-rusting steel to any practical advantage, against rust, and the prevention of oil on brakes.

We must however not attempt anything impractical, and we must get something done, i.e. not at-tempt more than is absolutely necessary, and that which we can do practically, at the same time must be at least equal to the best.

Can we use less and rather larger bolts where we have so many?

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
