With reference to the Flip Flap bonnet shutters recently submitted for approval and with reference to Wl/26.6.31, we are carrying out the following work. Operation. To facilitate operation we are making up shutters as follows :- (1) Using a weaker spring otherwise unaltered. (2) Altering the axis .200" nearer the centre of the shutter and retaining the original spring. (3) Using a small knob and moving the axis as near to the edge as possible. Construction and appearance. The shutters previously submitted were in sheet steel only because the parts were taken off a sheet steel bonnet (previously made) to save making new pieces. The next model will be made as designed for the aluminium bonnet using riveting as for the thick bonnet (eight per shutter) but with ordinary rivets. The radius of the corners will be increased to .750" and the clearance round the shutters made .0625". The shutters will open to the rear. When the models have been made to the above alternatives we shall build them up into a bonnet for a further examination by the administration. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} | ||
