To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to B.J. RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ORIGINAL. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG15.6.26. X8420 X8777 NEW LIGHTENED AXLE FOR PHANTOM. We have completed 30 hrs. on the bumping test. Although we have had numerous failures on other parts of the chassis, there are no signs yet of any cracks starting on the axle or pivots. In order to increase the severity of the test, we are running without shock dampers and with hard tyres. Acting on your suggestion one of the lightened type front axles has been cast in bronze so that we can accelerate the failure. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
