(4) (14) The Department will give sympathetic consideration to experimental engine testing with T.E.L. concentrations higher than permitted by D.T.D. 230 for the further development of valve, valve seat, materials, etc., on the clear understanding, however, that there is no intention to accept for general Service use any increased rating which might offer itself, allied with a fuel with more than 4 ml. T.E.L. and of higher octane value than demanded by D.T.D.230. Copies of this letter are being issued simultaneously to the aero engine constructors and firms supplying aero engine fuel to the Air Ministry so that the situation may be clear to all concerned. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, Assistant Director/R.D.E. for Director of Technical Development. | ||
