Sch. 1. with spiral keys is now looked upon as obsolete and scrapped.

Sch. 2. as fitted to EAC. 7. should be used temporarily until it is modified with Sch. B.

Sch. 2B. is the motor pinion moving outwards, the teeth of the pinion being parallel, or very slightly spiral, so as to hold in while driving, and be pushed out during over-run, but the gears must be correctly formed so as to be silent (not noisy like EAC. 7.)

The main switch, and the holding on switch, will be mechanically interlocked and simplified.

Sch. 2B. modifications also include the main switch contact being made by spring pressure after the motor armature is in gear. The spring pressure in this case does not prevent the gear engaging. The contact break is positive and is therefore more reliable.

I understand the modified motor is being completed at Derby from E's rough drawings sent from here (LeCs.2441/2.)

The simplified main switch is awaiting WW.
