To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. X6080 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/ADL3.12.32. NEW DESIGN OF MAIN SWITCH TO D.SCH.558 We would like to point out a feature in this design which might usefully be altered before the Exptl. shop build up any units for test, in order to avoid scrap. The coil winding as shown on the scheme is the same as standard, whereas this switch has much less work to do compared with the standard arrangement where the main switch armature has to additionally pull down the armature of the auxiliary switch. We suggest, therefore, that the coils for this switch be wound with one gauge finer wire (21 S.W.G.) and the resistance of the parallel resistance unit increased proportionately by approx. 25%.
