PETROL.

We receive Aviation Spirit for use on the aero engine in 50-gallon drums.

We suggest that the Stores should take the responsibility of seeing that the drums contain the full measure. On Saturday last, we received a 50-gallon drum of Aviation Spirit which we measured and found that it only contained 38 gallons. Instead of measuring the petrol, the drums might be weighed when they arrive and weighed again when they are empty. We could supply the specific gravity of petrol in order to transfer it into gallons.

We should be glad to hear what arrangements you suggest in order to see that we receive the quantity we pay for.
