PETROL PUMPS

It should be realised that when we use a low depression carburetter such as the R.R. semi automatic or the S.U., we cannot work with the standard autovac system because there is not sufficient depression in the induction pipe to suck the petrol out of the back tank.

We therefore have the choice of two systems; either the petrol pump complete or the vacuum pump plus autovac like we have on the Phantom.

We cannot say that the petrol pump is not practical because there are so many cars now on the road which operate and are reliable with this device.

We have one of our own cars, 25-X, which has run 27,000 miles fitted with an A.C. petrol pump which has given no trouble. This includes 10,000 mile test in France and mountain climbs.

Our own petrol pumps are now much more reliable and efficient and for Peregrine we have no alternative but to continue with the petrol pump. Until we get the bigger size petrol pump for the Phantom II it will be perfectly satisfactory with the vacuum pump plus the autovac.
