You will remember that when you were in Derby last at the conference about out-working allowances I spoke to you about how many cars in the hands of customers and Sales will want converting to front wheel brakes. You promised to prepare a list, have you this ready, because I have no doubt you will remember it was arranged with CJ. that it was essential to start fitting front wheel brakes to cars already in the hands of customers just a little prior, if possible, to the date when we are fitting chassis with front wheel brakes from Works to Test.

It is not possible I am afraid to fit any of the cars in customers' hands with front wheel brakes prior to July 25th. but if it was deemed very urgent we could arrange to fit a few chassis by getting some of our people to work the holidays. For instance if there were some customers who were very keen to get front wheel brakes fitted we could possibly take say ten cars from July 25th. and fit them up with front wheel brakes, so would you kindly compile us a list of customers who require brakes fitting and we will then prepare a programme as to how we can take them. We must be very careful not to get a large number of customers' cars at the Works at the beginning of this job, because after all the standardisation sheet has not yet been signed for front wheel brakes, and there are certain little snags, though at the time of writing nothing that is likely to seriously upset us.

There is another point, however, why we should not get a large number of cars round us and that is we are still short of material and have not fully got into the swing of production with front wheel brake material.
