As you probably know, there is a big swing towards torque converters on land vehicles of all types, including buses and rail-cars. I am, at the moment, working with a firm developing the most promising of these devices. They are particularly anxious to find an economical way of producing this converter and, in fact, I am sure would be only too glad to sub-let the job, if they could find anyone who would undertake the work for them on a commercial basis. It seems to me that this converter lends itself admirably to being die-cast in light alloy and that this might amount to a reasonable quantity of post-war business. If you are interested, I could let you have drawings and a sample, and then if you were of the opinion that you could successfully tackle the job, I could approach Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and we might get some prototypes produced, if he agrees. We have a post-war project to cover such work since we have a contract for making some Carriers, which may well finish up with this type of transmission. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
