-2- Ha/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}2/KW. 20.6.35. It remained to show whether the oil had extreme pressure lubricant properties. Two production 40/50 rear axles ran their normal dynamometer test on this lubricant and were found to be in excellent condition. A production gearbox similarly showed no signs of failure of the 1st speed tooth after the dynamometer test. This oil was then used for 15,000 miles in France in 21-G-IV, a spiral bevel axle; and 12,000 miles in S-B-IV's hypoid axle. In both cases the axles were in excellent condition and the latter was freer from sludge than any Bentley axle we have seen. Other running has been done on the axles of 26-EX, 7500 miles for which new gears were fitted; SpectreCodename for Phantom III 3-S-1, 2300 miles; SpectreCodename for Phantom III 3-S-1; Hall's Bentley. and a thinner grade in all SpectreCodename for Phantom III gearboxes. As this oil is cheaper than Whitmore's and obtainable in all garages, we recommend standardising it for Bentley axles. We have circulated a Standardisation Sheet. Ha/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
