To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy for J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} " " Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} With reference to the sweep of the front horn as illustrated on your Blue Print dated 24.10.13, this seems to be quite nice, and to achieve the improvement that we desired. You would notice that the previous drawing illustrated that the front horn consisted of a slow taper, then a portion that was parallel growing to a very much quicker taper, which could not have been right. This improved drawing now constitutes a slow taper growing to a more rapid taper as it approached the front horn. We now want to settle the width of the flange, and the method of attaching the cross member to the front horns. We ought to have a scheme at least as efficient as the one which has been tested; the actual drawing for which I have not seen. This, however, may be the best kind of thing, but I would be glad if you would consider all the possibilities of the case. R.{Sir Henry Royce} including the double cross member onebeing as forward as the existing handle will allow and with tubular diagonal stay between.
