TEST NO. | ENGINE MOUNTING. | VIBRATIONS.
---|---|---
13 | Engine supported on centre of crankshaft - weight changed from position underneath engine to side position. | Generally rough from 12 to 17 m.p.h.
14 | As No.13 with damping added. | Much improved - slight period at 16 m.p.h.
15 | Standard engine mounting with weight fixed on to side of engine. | Very good - slight period at 11 m.p.h. and 17 m.p.h.
16 | As No.15 with damping added. | Periods slightly less than No.15.
17 | Standard engine mounting with weight to balance engine - No dampers. | Very good - better than No.15 - slight period at 12 m.p.h.
18 | As No.17 with damping added. | Very good - dampers bring up slight period at 16 m.p.h. but improve period at 12 m.p.h.
19 | Engine mounted to LeC.1763. Rigid two-point at the front - single-point at the rear. | Slight vibration at 17 m.p.h. This is an improvement over present engine mounting but not quite as good as std. with friction.
