To R.R.Inc. from R. {Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 143-V [handwritten] R4/C7.9.21 X.3701 X.4160 [struck through] RE. FREEZING UP OF FILTER IN THE BACK TANK. With reference to your remarks concerning the freezing up of the filter in the back tank, I must admit that we know very little of the severe winter conditions that you get abroad, English winters being particularly gentle. At the same time I should not have expected that you would have been bothered with much water in petrol; very rarely we get water in petrol. The small filter on the float chamber was R. {Sir Henry Royce} looked upon as an addition to the outgoing one in the rear tank, so should not get blocked or frozen and need not be large.
