WST X6616 See me PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT18.10.32 S/W. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst...from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}C. Ox. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Whr.{Mr Wheeler} Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} FP.{F. Potts} 20/25 H.P. three-charge Scheme. Thank you for your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.3/KT.17.10.32 with the two blue prints. I gather that the general outside appearance of the switchbox will be not greatly different, to the ordinary observer, from our standard, otherwise we would hardly feel justified in fitting our own demonstration cars with something which is not standard, and which could be easily observed by any customer or enquirer. The four points you give as examples of bad features of the present system are of course fairly well appreciated already by us, and they certainly are an array which might reasonably have condemned our system of battery and dynamo control much earlier. The vibrator control such as on the C.A.V. tested on 19-EX becomes increasingly important at a time when we may propose to wash out the magnetos on our system, preferring to use two duplicate battery systems of ignition having one common battery. The four sets of three-charge schemes that you are preparing for us to obtain experience with will be fitted to the following cars :- GKT-22. GFT-46. Used by C. GBT-9. Used by Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} - GAW3. GHW-76✓ This last chassis having been alloted to Paris. Probably you will see to it that the parts and fitting in connection with this chassis are dealt with in plenty of time as I understand it is expected to be on test sometime early in November. We do not wish to fit one of the switch schemes to 20-G4, as this car being an owner-driver type frequently gets into the hands of press gentlemen and others who might make a reference to the summer and winter charge wording. | ||
