-2- From the shape of the /u speed curve we are able to predict the behaviour of a lining, and when we have developed the method further, testing on cars will cease, except for the final check. Hitherto brake lining manufacturers have concentrated on developing linings to give long life, non-scoring, and non-fading characteristics, and because squeak could not be measured development along non-squeak lines could not be conducted, although this is a matter of prime importance. It seems to us that the first manufacturer to develop a genuine non-squeak lining is going to have a very big sales pull indeed. Your combination of 400.M. and D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} has not been tested in this way as our rig is undergoing modification. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
