NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I ENGINE.

We shall shortly be standardising an induction pipe made in aluminium and also a heated induction pipe bend in aluminium. The chief advantage to be gained from these is reduction in weight.

We are not happy with the choke valve in the exhaust pipe. We have been trying the water heated bend in place of the exhaust heated. This however brings us back into the usual troubles of distribution when cold.

The water circulation on the Phantom follows the scheme on the 20 HP. We carried out tests on the 20 HP. and were not able to appreciate any difference by entering the water at different points along the cylinder.

We have not had the trouble you mention as regards the engine going on firing after being switched off except in cases where we have found the earthing contact on the magneto is bad.

Another improvement, and one we think is a necessary improvement, is that we shall shortly be standardising a new steering on the Phantom. The object of this steering is to reduce road shocks. The alteration necessitates new steering box, worm, nut and rocking lever. You should certainly allow for this because it is a real improvement.

(1) I should very much like to know XXXX when You propose to start producing the Phantom.
