We do not know whether such a device would meet with public approval. It is regrettable that a demonstration was not possible.

Mr. Last had no intention of spending any money himself on making a gearbox suitable for a car, hoping that we should do so for him.

When we can say whether mathematically the scheme will work a decision can be made as to what, if any, steps to take.
