The continued chemical analysis and conclusions regarding the properties and heat treatment of a steel specimen.

CONCLUSIONS.

The specimens examined under low and high power indicated a high quality material free from slag or other inclusions. As received the bars appeared to have been heavily annealed with a resultant coarse grain but as shown in the attached test report this did not indicate any mechanical weakness.

Steel of the analysis given would probably stand a skin carburizing without developing serious brittleness, but the time of carburizing should not exceed about 1 hour at 900°C.
