X 20 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Levallois, September 30th, 1936. I shall send the Bentley back by Gardiner and Walsh. I am waiting for the franc to recover before I can return. We have already borrowed 15000 francs from Levallois and have a further 6 to 8000 owing at Chateauroux. I shall as soon as the rate of the franc is known, get my letter of Credit changed, settle up the debts, then return to London. We shall have saved with the franc going off the gold standard a matter of 9000 francs for the last month. Had I changed the letter of credit last week this amount would have been lost.
