Effects of a catalyser on engine performance, carbon build-up, and fuel economy.

It is doubtful however if equal economies could be obtained with the superior English fuel.

Judging by my experience the effect of the catalyser begins to decrease noticeably at about 8000 miles even when carbon is fired. Scraping carbon is not possible with a catalysed head, but the head can be detached and then fired, which is common practice.

The benefit of the catalyser even with a Ricardo head, which is good for lack of detonation, and firing lean mixtures, is we think of special interest.
