Krooa To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17/KW.14.5.35. Failure of the Pivot in France. Herewith a sketch showing the difference between the pivot which failed in France and the standard pivot. We think that the failure is a warning that we are sailing rather close to the wind at this point, and that we should strengthen the standard pivot. It is interesting to compare the amount of metal here with the amount of metal in the hub which, as we have previously pointed out, is unnecessarily heavy.
