Two schemes for mounting carburettors and induction pipes on an Eagle 16 engine for bench testing.

CARBURETTERS AND INDUCTION PIPES FOR BENCH TEST. X.3824 X.4114 X.3820 I have been looking into the above matter and find that it appears easy to hang four carburetters on E.16. for bench testing, without colliding with the mounting. The pipes on the upper block require modifying at their rear ends to carry carburetters vertically within the side bays of the mounting. The lower blocks require simple elbow pipes sufficiently long to get clear of the water pump. At the same time we are at liberty to use a scheme of two carburetters only for the engine, with horizontal 'U' shaped induction pipes joining the upper cyl. blocks and the lower cyl. blocks together respectively. This latter scheme also appears to go in quite well but it is necessary to put on the top induction pipe after the mounting, which renders the bottom nuts of the upper induction pipe joints somewhat, but not entirely, inaccessible. It might be advisable to have both scheme on the move as it is almost only necessary to take a coppersmith to the job and shew him what shape to make the copper-pipes.
