-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}3/KT. 23.9.33. shewed them to be O.K. but the tappets themselves are in a very worn condition, rough surfaces and full of 'flats'. These tappets are made of cast-iron, and a set of new tappets of similar material to that which is now in use on our P.II. cars are being instructed. We have now gone as far as we can with existing parts, and the following is a list of what we require before we can do anything further (1) Eccentrics and rocker shafts to LeC.3641. (2) New plunger housings to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1129/30. (3) Set of bottom tappets of similar material to P.II. (4) New tappet clamps to LeC.3588. (5) Incorporation of adequate oil filter. For item (5) we require a design. The camshaft bearings appear to have more float than seems necessary, probably due to wear, and the condition of the cams themselves are anything but good, and we are arranging for a new camshaft and bearings to be fitted.
