MAGNESIUM PISTONS. X4117

We are running a Phantom car fitted with magnesium pedestal pistons which contain 4% of copper.
The comparative weights of complete pistons, rings and pins are as follows :-

Standard 1.70 lbs.
Magnesium 1.28 lbs.

The engine on which they are fitted is exceptionally smooth at high speeds and with the throttle shut. How much this is due to the pistons, is being investigated.
