Valves Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} When the valve FB.4250 is in its seatings, the valve sleeve FB.4248 should have .005" to .010" float. Rear. Shock dampers as per T.O.I.4217 except for the following modification. Two replenishing valves are needed in the bump stroke piston. As the piston might then be put in wrong way round, it will be advisable to have two replenishing valves each end. This modification requires detailing. The second replenishing valve is fitted into the top of one of the bolt holes, and BL.871 shows the insert used. Bentley V Damper Settings. Front. Load on end of damper lever 125 lbs. Bump = rebound. Leak on experimental rig. Bump 1 sec. Rebound 2 secs. The leaks are obtained by drilling through the centres of the rivets holding the replenishing valves and springs together. Bump side .046" dia. Rebound side .031" dia. Rear. Load on end of damper lever 40 lb. Bump = rebound. Leak on experimental rig Bump 1 sec. Rebound 3 secs. The leaks are obtained by drilling the main valve .039" dia. down and .062 dia. across, and the bump piston .055" dia. into the reservoir. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Clm.{D. D.
