| PW/HDE. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GYR/14MA. 14th August, 1936. Messrs/ Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of S.W.Grylls Esq. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of 10th August, we have a communication from Bramber Engineering Company in which they state that they have laid out a rim to your drawing. They are of the opinion that a really satisfactory wheel cannot be built to the lay out, as the nipples would be very close to each other and it would be practically impossible to get the spokes under full tension. They suggest that the most satisfactory method of overcoming the difficulty would be to reduce the diameter of the balance weights and fit a type similar to that fitted to the Rolls-Royce wheel. They would then build the wheel with 3" instead of 3.400" space for balance weights. I should like to know whether you approve of this suggestion. Upon your instructions we will instruct them to make a new set of wheels to be sent to you rather than try to rebuild the wheels which you have at present. You would, of course, have to send the Rolls-Royce balance weights to the Bramber Engineering Company. Yours faithfully, INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY LTD. Works Manager. | ||
