Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd.
DERBY.

For the attention of Mr. Leslie. Experimental Dept.

Dear Mr. Leslie,

We understand from Mr. Armstrong that you have definitely decided on 1-1/8" diameter spindles for our shock absorbers.

In these circumstances, we consider that the bearing area of the small end of the spindle should be increased and we propose adding 1/4" to the length and we were wondering if you could accomodate this, as per enclosed suggestion, namely an 1-1/2" diameter boss projecting from the back flange of the shock absorber, which would go through the hole in the bracket.

If you are unable to accomodate this, we shall be obliged to add 1/4" also to the flange.

We should be pleased to have your remarks by return, in order that we may have our pattern altered to whichever method is most suitable.

Thanking you in anticipation,

Yours faithfully,
p.p. ARMSTRONG'S PATENTS CO. LTD.
