- 3 - He/GBL.1/KT.8.4.31.cont. the fitting of the new coil. Item (11). Servo. The inefficiency of servos is being dealt with by depots by the fitting of cotton duck washers replacing Halo. The stainless driving pins undergoing tests are giving satisfactory results and will be incorporated if still satisfactory after further mileage. The new material for the servo is now on test and giving good results. Item (12). Rear Axle Thrust. The complaint should be considerably less with the improved thrust races that are now being fitted. Item (13). Telegauges. The fused glass joint is giving satisfactory results, no recurrent complaint has been received. The single line scheme has not as yet been tested out sufficiently to obtain any definite results. Item (14). Propeller Shaft Joints. These complaints should abate with the attention now being given by the Works to the leather washers. Tests are being carried out with the springloaded glands also an automatic air vent. Item (15). Starter Motor. The 25 HP. starter motor is giving very little trouble. The Phantom II starter motor troubles are on the increase. We have reported the causes of these to S. and Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}, modifications will have to be made if these complaints are to be kept down. We are carrying out tests to overcome troubles experienced. Item (16). Petrol Tank Leaks. The leaks from petrol tanks that have been reported from depots has caused a considerable amount of cost. The leakages have been chiefly from the countersunk screws holding down the cap of the filter, and from the face joint of the air vent pipe. The paint has been destroyed at these places and though the joints have been made good, there have been several instances where the Customer has insisted upon the repainting of the tank. To cure these complaints, cheese headed screws have been instructed and velumoid washers for the face joints, but these have not as yet got on production cars. | ||
