Nor/B:11/L7713. Re Steering Pivots C.471 - X.166 J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 7-7-13. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} We attach herewith Mr Haldenby's report on the above. These pivots were specially tested with a view to see whether they necessitated replacement, Mr Spinney having reported to us that they were considered weak and that they were having the dies altered to reinforce same. In view of Mr Haldenby's present report this would seem altogether unnecessary as they are by far the strongest pivots that he has as yet tested. Neither our records nor the foreman in charge of the Front axle Dept. can give us any definite information, but from a personal examination of the Drawing Office records I believe that these pivots were fitted to all 700 series cars, and also the Repair Dept. have changed the pivots of a large number of cars of 900 and 1000 series from C.75/6 to C.471/2. p. cor.
