| X236 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}14/KW. 25th June, 1934. The Light Production Co.Ltd., 6C/66, Rochester Row, Westminster. LONDON, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, Confirming our telephone conversation of to-day's date, we have despatched to you the dies for the Bentley Aerolite Piston. We want three sets of these pistons in your own alloy as soon as possible. These pistons are for an engine unit where maximum power is the ideal aimed at and piston slap is of minor importance. We therefore suggest that you grind the pistons so that the pressure face ~~DIAMETER~~ at the top of the skirt should not exceed 3.245" for our cylinder bore of 3.250". We suggest that there is no object in having anything but a parallel skirt. Our main concern is how soon we can get these pistons. We shall be very much obliged if you will do all you can to expedite their production. The Writer hopes to call at Slough on Wednesday morning the 27th inst., to talk to Mr. Brookes about these pistons. We understand that you have as yet had no successful tests with aluminited pistons in any alloy. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
