We have received the following quotations for Bentley V radiators complete, with the exception of the Head-lamp brackets and the 'K' parts. Part Cost. Tool Cost. John Marston Ltd., £13/5/- £850 Coventry Radiators Ltd., £14/2/6 £600 Serck Radiators Ltd., £16/15/- £750 John Marston Ltd., £12/9/- £850 John Marston now make the Matrix for our present production radiators, and have made all the sample radiators for Bentley V, Bentley 50 and Silver Wraith. As John Marston also produced the Jaguar radiator, we have been able to compare the fundamental difference in cost between the Jaguar and the Bentley V.{VIENNA} radiator. We find that the 3½ litre Jaguar radiator, is about 32% less expensive than the Bentley V.{VIENNA} radiator. This being due to the Bentley V.{VIENNA} having :- 1. A separate yoke to enable the Radiator Head-lamps and Wings to be centrally mounted. 2. The exterior shape of the radiator makes it necessary for all the shutters to be different in length and also complicates assembly. 3. A steam valve. 4. Higher standard of finish. We find that John Marston will require at least 3 months, in order to produce the necessary production tools for the Bentley V.{VIENNA} radiator. We should therefore like to know as soon as possible, whether the latest radiator fitted to the 9 BV. is satisfactory for production as regards appearance, in order that the tools may be released at the earliest date.
