X.247 - Steering Pivots on the track. - We have not yet received the proper cross rod with the spring buffers in. We have been making tests with our temporary one with different strength of springs but whatever strength we use the pivot is the first part to fail. On the average pivots do last longer with the spring buffer cross tube, but we have had individual pivots which have lasted longer with the solid tube.

We have cracked 6 pivots on the track with a spring cross tube and 2 with an old type cross tube with the 1.5° bend in it. We have also tested a pair of the new reinforced pivots, they have run for 15 hours on the track test and there is no sign of any damage.

We have broken on the car whilst doing these tests, one steering arm on off side pivot after 28 hours, 4 bottom leaves of a front spring, 2 top plates, one spring clip, and one bolt holding leaves together.
