X.295.-SMITH DYNAMOS.

In the first instance we received from Messrs.Smith two sample dynamos and cut-out, head and side lamps, sample accumulator and combined instrument and switch. After examination of these we returned all but one sample dynamo and cut-out, for which we paid as you will see by the accompanying the notes EFC5/T15219-EFC2/T15519. Later, 22.12.19, we received in accordance with our arrangement with Messrs. Smith, another dynamo and cut-out similar to the first but with superior finish for which we have not so far asked for an official order to be sent. We do not intend to keep this dynamo as it does not represent quite what we should require for the car, and therefore we shall be making arrangements shortly for the return of this, together with the cut-out.

It was suggested a few weeks ago between us that we should receive a further dynamo representing their standard production article, but this suggestion has now been cancelled as you will see by their most recent letter, copy of which herewith.

You will also see from this letter that they will be sending us a dynamo with special details of insulation etc., which is intended to represent what they would do for us if we use this machine for the car. We shall be glad if you will have sent to Messrs. Smith an official order for this machine, and also for another machine identical with this as we shall certainly require two, one to be put on a car for
