SCOTLAND.

Dear Dr. Young,

Many thanks for your letter of the 18th September.

I was pleased to receive such an analysis of the tyre performance in the race. The figures are most interesting, and should enable us to adjust our tyre size satisfactorily in any further events in which the Bentley may compete.

We are passing you an order for a further six 7 x 18" tyres. We want these tyres to compare with the Dunlop '90' type of tread for silence and freedom from vibrations.

We have discovered that with independent wheel springing the car appears to be much more susceptible to tyre noise, and we should be happy if you would co-operate with us in solving this problem.

When we receive the tyres we will let you have our opinion on them, and if we think there is any way in which they can be improved, we will let you know.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
