The type I7I plugs have been removed to-day and returned to you for inspection. Slow running had deteriorated and pre-ignition at maximum speed on the exhaust plugs was being experienced. They have run 10.000 miles since we last set the gaps at .020" and are now around .038". No I inlet plug on A bank has a cracked insulator. The total life of the plugs since fitting in Derby is over 19.000 miles. We have fitted the FE.30X plugs received in their place. We have also fitted six of the FLB.30X plugs in 6.B.IV. 3.B.IV. is running on FLB.50X plugs which have covered 8.000 miles since fitting in Derby. They have given no trouble. They were re-set from .028" to .020" after 2.300 miles. ------------- RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} Not a bad record? Wrr Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W.
