EJJ. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1023. 1162 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.17.3.38. DRIVING OF DYNAMOMETER DRUMS IN THE GARAGE. We have had almost continual trouble with the Texrope drives of the dynamometer drums that are at present in the bumper house. The scheme which has been got out for moving this rig into the garage also uses Texrope drives. It occupies a considerable amount of space. We suggest that the correct way to drive these drums is to have another pair of drums alongside them and drive by means of some sort of clutch. All that would be necessary would be for the car to be driven to be put on one pair of drums and the car which was going to act as the driver to be put on another pair. When not in use, the drums could be covered up. We shall be glad if you will look into this scheme. The job is somewhat urgent, as we are anxious to convert the bump rig into an electric drive.
