'H' ENGINES. K4453
RR. 'H' M/S-3. K4674

This engine has now completed its final tests and has been despatched to Messrs. Hawkers for installation in a Hawker Horsley machine. We give herewith the final power curve as observed by the A.I.D.

R.P.M. C/B.HP. Pts/HP/Hr. Boost Press:
2200 993 .502 + 3.4" Hg.
2000 890 .500 + 3.0" Hg.
1800 762 .518 + 2.4" Hg.

Oil consumption on the two hrs. endurance averaged 12.5 pts/hr.

Hand-starter tests were made on the engine under both cold and hot conditions without any difficulty.

Acceleration was good, and slow running was satisfactory at 400 r.p.m.

The engine was opened up to the gate position (750 HP. at 2000 r.p.m.) on a petrol head of 2 ft. above the carburetter - flooding commenced at just under 12 ft. head with the engine stationary.

Throughout the final tests the petrol pump was arranged to feed the carburetter directly, with a pressure of from 2 - 2.5 lbs/sq.in. in the supply pipe.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/V.Halliwell.
