x+x17. To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/KT.31.10.33. TERRAPLANE. We wish to carry out some experiments on the crankshaft periods of this engine. At the moment this is impossible as the damper drives the fan and water pump and cannot therefore be dispensed with. Secondly the valve springs are not sufficiently strong to exceed 4250 r.p.m. Will you therefore please make a fan pulley in aluminium to the attached Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1190 and also a set of valve springs, 16 off, to the following particulars:- Wire size .160 dia. Outside dia. of helix 1.020 - 10. 7 working coils with one coil ground square each end, closed ended, total of 9 coils. Free length 2.345 Load at 1.675 to be 145 lbs.
