Mr Hives. RECEIVED November 5. 1918. BY3/F51118. AMERICAN ENGINES. RE WATER JACKETS. I give below an extract from Mr Nadin's memo Na{Mr Nadin}2/K161018, in which he points out that the Jackets on the American engines are made from a special material which has a considerably higher resistance to rusting than ordinary mild steel sheet. I am having a number of jackets sent loose from America which will enable us to make a special test of this feature. Extract. "These jackets are made from a material known as Armco Iron-which has a resistance to rust about ten times greater than the ordinary qualities of Mild Steel. It welds very easily and appears to be very suitable for the work". BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
