WRAITH 111 - EXHAUST FITTINGS.

Please receive herewith E.CD.689 Modified Intermediate Pipe and Stays - Wraith 111 Exhaust System.

The modifications shown on this design have been made at the request of the Experimental Department, and are as follows :-

(1). The shape of the intermediate pipe and the position of the joint flanges have been altered, to enable the lower set screw for starter motor to be removed without disturbing the exhaust pipe and also to facilitate spannering of joint flange nuts, which had been obstructed by the latest rear engine support bracket.

The bends in the pipe have been simplified by this modification.

(2). The intermediate pipe support stays from clutch housing have been altered to prevent them collapsing, as experienced on the existing stays. We have shown a channelled section pressing for these stays in preference to the tubular type, as provision must be allowed for expansion of the exhaust system when heating up.

Will you please detail and instruct these alterations experimentally with a view to being brought on to production as soon as convenient.
