Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} For the attention of Mr. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Dear Sir, Please accept my thanks for your letter of the 27th. instant. I am at once sending to you for test a model 300 Luber-Finer, together with a spare refill. Would you please note that for test purposes the lubricant should be passed through the unit at a temperature ranging between 80°F and 160°F, as the element does not become fully activated unless the temperature is over the minimum figure stated above. The minimum pressure required to pass the lubricant through the pack is 20 lbs. per sq.inch. The release valve is set to blow at 40 lbs. per sq. inch, in other words, at anything over 40 lbs. a proportion of the oil in circuit will be bypassed straight back to the crankcase. It is of course clear to you that the Luber-Finer is designed as a bypass filter, and should not be used in any other way. I shall be most interested to hear in due course the results of your test.
