1379 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re Montlhery Run. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/E16239 As soon as I saw the telegram from Sr. as to the results attained, I sent him a telegram of congratulation and made enquiries as to what had been done about publicity. Reuters man, Mr.Morgan, was over there and I have seen the very full account which they sent out world wide to all their different subscribers. I am afraid that, so far, it has had poor publicity in the London papers. In fact we have only seen a few lines in the Telegraph but there was a good display in Sporting Life. I understand that it was broadcast by the B.B.C. in German and French in their special foreign bulletins on Tuesday evening. This of course is good. Reuters points out that the morning papers are generally sticky about motoring and even Carraciola's new class record was very poorly published. I understand that there was also a paragraph in the Evening Standard about it last night. I think, however, we must not be too discouraged by this poor publicity to start with as more or less the same happened about the run into Germany etc., i.e. to start with it was only in the Evening Standard but publicity is still coming in about it and to-day's Daily Telegraph under the motoring article has quite a useful bit on the subject. Immediately following the publicity about the German run, enquiries began to come in from prospective clients for cars of this type. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
