-2- contd. The third series of tests described in the report PD39 now attached, deals with electrical leakage in these papers under high pressure after 6 hours continuous heating at 200°C. The conclusion from the tests, as stated, is that though the papers are not weaker electrically they are weakened mechanically. Though the evidence of the above test is very slightly in favour of Symons varnished paper, we do not consider that the evidence is really sufficient to enable us to say definitely that the Symons varnished paper is better than the standard. We have however, also in progress, tests on ignition coils made up with Symons waxed paper, and we hope shortly to have some further evidence to bring forward which may result in our recommending this paper for standard.
