84523. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.2/KT. Dec. 22nd, 1931. S.Smith & Sons, Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London. N.W.2. For the attention of Mr.Russell. Dear Sir, Re. Electric Petrol Gauges. Will you please supply us with a petrol gauge similar to that supplied on Oct. 30th, for our 20 gallon petrol tank. We are sending you a tank and blueprint under separate cover. The gauge you sent us on Oct. 30th has not yet completed its test. From reports we hear that in the tank unit the contact arm has developed some back-lash on the spindle. The result being a loss of 2 gallons throughout the scale. We should like to know your opinion on this, and the best method to prevent it repeating. We will, however, be able to let you know more when the test is finished. We understand from one of your representatives that your single line gauge is equally satisfactory to the type we are testing. This being a more simple and cheaper gauge. Will you therefore let us have one of these as well as the other type gauge for our 20 gallon tank. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS ROYCE LTD. | ||
