ignition advance. It might be considered that the expense of this job, even if applied retrospectively, is cheaper than the expense now going on in regard to engine gear attention.

(4) Clutch Slipping.- One must still admit that this clutch is prone to slip if roughly used.

(5) Petrol Gauge.- Complaint on new car deliveries. A more definite routine of inspection and test may alleviate this.
Also some gauges fail to register when filling up the car stationary; O.K. when the car is on the road.

Phantom II.

(1) Exhaust Spit on Pick-up (hot spot throttle). Although an "improvement" was recently fitted so far the feature is still prevalent on new chassis.

(2) Clutch Stop.- Very slow to engage 1st or 2nd gear when hot.

There is, of course, a general outcry against the Phantom II, i.e. steering, valve mechanism noisy, performance, etc., but these, we take it, are being considered in the introduction of the "SpectreCodename for Phantom III".

As regards Bentley chassis, the following are points which we should like you to add to our list referred to in EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}6.11.34.-

(8) Oil Pressure fails under severe braking.

(9) Brakes Thump

(10) Brakes unsafe for "panic braking" (as discussed with E)

(11) Noisy Petrol Pumps with low level of petrol in tank, even on reserve.
